The latest book release written by George Campbell and Jim Packard entitled Consistency Is the New Currency starts out with a quote that I’ll let you read when you buy the book. I’d be curious to know if it resonates with you as much as it did me.
by Kevin James Culp
When you do read it, and I hope you do, I’d encourage you to really take a moment to really process it because it makes so much sense and is so easy to employ into your daily life. In fact, you’ll be shocked at just how well the approach laid out in this book works.
Not to give it all away, but if you’re an 80%er like me, you will go from inconsistent to consistent to constant in pretty short order. Trust me there really is no magic involved. Just read it, give it three days, and you’ll see what I mean.
If you’ve been struggling for years, are new to small business, just opened your own business or business opportunity or if you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just thinking about buying a business opportunity or franchise or some sort, you need to read this book!
I’ve encountered the same problems with the same people at the same times and in the same patterns for a lifetime, and this book really helped me to see things more clearly.
Question: Do you start To-Do lists and then by day’s end find that you’ve only added more items to it and crossed off far fewer than you’d hoped? If so, you need to read this book. Does that same list grow into multiple pages by week’s end with maybe a few additional things crossed off, but then nothing feels like it’s ever really completed? Again, if that’s resonating with you, YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!
By combining “ER” Direction Goals and adding just one link per day, you’ll find a new level of power that you might have been missing your entire life…and it’s all achievable by taking just one step. I literally had no idea there was such a simple way for me to free myself from these patterns and that it would be so easy.
Can it be so simple? Can fortunes be made by just staying consistent? Can you really be happier in only a matter of days? Make more money in days? Connect with more prospects or have biked 100 miles?
Actually, I now know that I can and you can too, but what does ‘being consistent’ mean exactly?
I’ve done many book reviews, and I’ve read a ton of “self-help” books for review and yet a few more, all in an effort to maximize my own personal and professional growth. And in all honesty, I never got much from any of them.
But, this is NOT one of those books.
Some back story: I had the honor of connecting with one of the two authors via LinkedIn back in April, Jim Packard. Jim has been in the network marketing industry for decades. His multi-decade industry business successes in writing, speaking and mentoring have helped thousands of people become successful and follow in his footsteps. Yet, he told me that he has always wondered why he couldn’t help more people until it dawned on him that consistency is the answer and had been all along, hence the creation of Consistency Is the New Currency.
In fact, Jim wondered, Why can’t I help everyone? When I heard that, it caught my attention as I have had the exact same question come up in my sales career more than once, usually at a time of transition.
I’m not sure how or even why Jim knew I needed to read this book, but I did, and that’s maybe the most interesting part of this book review for me. Timing is truly everything in so many respects. I am a spiritual person and perhaps this was divine intervention. I don’t know. Suffice it to say that Jim was consistently persistent that I had to read this book…so much so that it had to be sent to me more than once before I finally did. Little did I know it, but my life was about to change forever.
Full disclosure, and being the 80%er that I am these days, it took me weeks to sit and finally read the book. When I finally got around to it, I read it cover-to-cover in one sitting, wishing I had a highlighter as I did so. Instead, I ended up bending back pages, bending up pages and making triangles of so many corners to remind myself of the really good stuff that I want and need to read again and employ technically into my everyday life that I pretty much have a mess on my hands at this point. And what a beautiful mess it is!
It was a great read, and you can tell the bond Jim and George have is special. While I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Jim’s co-author, George Campbell, just yet, I hope to one day soon so that I can learn more about him.
In the meantime, I’m truly grateful that I got to talk with Jim for an hour or so, trading stories about sales, the book and the whole concept of being consistent. It was truly a learning experience I will not forget, and I really felt a connection with him. I’m hoping we can stay in touch and look forward to future conversations.
They speak of spurts of true and pure excellence. Those moments of epiphany where you know you not only nailed it but you did so in a way that was unique to that moment enough that it might become that standard formula adopted by others. The key is to have a moment of epiphany every day if you can.
Again, I can’t emphasize enough that you should buy this book. Then make some time, sit calmly, preferably with a highlighter (LOL), and read it cover-to-cover in one sitting. Only then will you really begin to understand and appreciate that consistency truly is the new currency.
Lastly, one key reason for this blog post is this:
If I can share this with just one person and change that person’s life and then that person goes on to change the life of another and so on, well then we will have created an unstoppable force that will create positive change in many lives over time. How cool is that???
